About Us

Heritage Watch Ethiopia started from an urgent need to protect historic places, stories and ways of life as an essential part of Ethiopia’s social and economic development. We are dedicated to educating the public and private sector on the value of heritage homes and neighborhoods and to create opportunities to save these sites for future generations.

Established in 2018, Heritage Watch Ethiopia advocates for the restoration of urban heritage, such as residential and commercial buildings, historic neighborhoods, nature preserves and gardens in the capital city of Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa and Oromia Region. Through our preservation projects, public outreach, and volunteer and partner networks, we create platforms to strengthen public awareness and empower local communities to support the restoration of our precious common heritage.
