​Heritage Watch Association is looking for a bi-lingual educational consultant to join our team. We are a non-profit Ethiopian organization registered under the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Agency. This position is a temporary, part time for the duration of the project (1 year). We are an equal opportunity employer.

Project title: Heritage Education in Ethiopia: A Pilot Project (2021 – 2022)
Position title: Part-Time Education Consultant
Project summary: There is a growing trend among Ethiopian youth to connect with their cultural heritage. Unfortunately, the current educational system does not embrace indigenous knowledge as part of its central pedagogy. Students lack deep exposure to heritage as a foundational and valuable part of their educational experience. Heritage Watch Ethiopia (HWA) seeks to support schools to develop ‘heritage clubs’ within the existing education environment, with the possibility of extending to entrepreneurship and other employment for the targeted beneficiary which is the youth, the largest and most unemployed population in Ethiopia
Job description and position qualifications  

​The consultant will be the public face of the project and will interface with the public. (S)he will closely participate in project development meetings and propose improvements as well as collect data. (S)he will evaluate potential problems and provide written reports as well as propose solutions. (S)he will oversee and give support to all aspect of the project.
​
The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Education, and other expert institutions, school administration and faculty in the planning of clubs, creating work sessions with experts and schools. (S)he will make decisions regarding the heritage tool kit development. Together with the faculty advisors, (S)he will approve club activities. (S)he will be fluent in Amharic and English and will give frequent written reports of progress to the Project Director. (S)he will give general and specific support backing all international and national stakeholders following the directives from HWA. (S)he works closely with the project coordinator to provide all resources are available in a timely manner and communicate any problems in an efficient manner. The consultant will be responsible for the written comprehensive report of the project at commencement of the project. The education consultant is not required to be an official member of Heritage Watch Association; however, we will welcome and encourage members to apply. Responsibilities & Duties
  • Create a plan to meeting strategic plan and project objectives and disseminate to experts in the field as well as School administrators, advisors, teachers, parents and students. with the company executives and high-level managers
  • Prepare a written progress report and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate resources and organize the research activities to create the Ethiopian tool kit for usage as heritage clubs in Addis Ababa.
  • Facilitate all stakeholders to buy in this produce.
  • Prepare marketing and advertising materials to expand the heritage clubs in schools’ program
  • Uphold Heritage Watch brand of the highest ethical standard and follow all guidelines and policies. 

Required Skills
  •  5 + years' experience in education field with combined administrative and teaching experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or social sciences.
  • Proficient in communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with digital marketing initiatives, including social media
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to lead teams and inspire other staff members to think creatively
  • Good communications skills including proficient (oral and written) in Amharic and English.
  • A team player, well organized, multi-tasker and requires minimal supervision
